Netflix Is Lowering Its Prices and These are the Countries that Qualify for Discounts

A lot has changed in the video streaming space over the past few months, with several major players raising their prices, running costs rising to new levels and competition getting fiercer. However, today we get some news that Netflix will actually lower the prices of its plans, and introduce new plan pricing to many countries around the world. Unfortunately for those in the US, this discount doesn’t apply, but it’s nice to see Netflix make adjustments, as it tries to adapt to an ever-changing market.

According to Ampere analysis Netflix will start lowering the prices of its plans in regions such as Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin,America and the Middle East. The streaming media company will introduce new pricing on its Basic, Standard, and Premium plans, with discounts ranging from anywhere from 13 to 60 percent. When it comes to the countries that will get a discount, the data research and analytics company has shared a full list, which can be seen in the image above. Of course, not all of these discounts are impressive, but usually any kind of price drop should be celebrated, especially when the plans are already quite expensive. So if you are based in any of the areas mentioned above, make sure you check your Netflix bill.

While Netflix has raised its prices over the past year, with the most recent price hike occurring at the beginning of last year, the company has also introduced a new, affordable, ad-supported plan for its service. Currently, the ad-supported tier is active, costs $6.99 per month, and is available in more than a dozen countries. Of course, Netflix has been on the hook for the better part of the past few months, announcing its ban on password sharing, and expanding it to regions like Canada earlier in February. While lower prices in certain regions are a good thing, it will be interesting to see how the company navigates the streaming landscape over the next couple of years.
